We have been performing Handel’s Messiah in Sydney every year (almost!) since 1941. The choir began as the Combined Churches Choir, and now includes voices from all over Sydney singing this iconic and world-famous music.
Come and be part of the audience on Saturday 13th December or Sunday 14th December at 3.00pm and celebrate Christmas in the city of Sydney at the beautiful and historic Sydney Town Hall.
You are welcome to join the choir and sing with us from October to December 2025. Experienced choristers and new singers are all welcome, as we share the fun and challenge of singing Messiah together. Chorister registrations open 1st July 2025.

Highlights of Handel’s Messiah at St Stephen’s Uniting Church
In February each year we gather the choir together again to join the congregation of St Ste[hen’s Uniting Church in singing Highlights from Messiah.
This is our opportunity to say thank you to the people of St Stephen’s for their hospitality, and allowing us to use their beautiful church as our rehearsal space.
Come and be part of this Sunday morning in February. Our Conductor, Tim Chung, and organist, Mark Quarmby, will be leading the choir. This is a FREE EVENT.
You are warmly invited to attend. Children are especially welcome at this event on Sunday 2nd February at 10.00am at St Stephen’s Uniting Church, 197 Macquarie Street Sydney.

Is this the year you sing on stage at the Sydney Town Hall as part of the Handel’s Messiah Sydney Choir?
The Handel’s Messiah Sydney Choir is a non-auditioning choir of singers from all over Sydney. Some of our choristers have been singing Handel’s Messiah with us for years; some of our choristers are doing this for the first time. We welcome trained singers and enthusiastic amateurs. Everyone should have the opportunity to sing Messiah – including the Hallelujah Chorus – on stage, so why wait another year? Come and be part of our choir of over 450 voices. Be in the midst of it all as the City of Sydney celebrates Christmas in 2025.
Children and students under 18 are also welcome (children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Our Saturday performance is the first of our two annual presentations of Handel’s Messiah at the Sydney Town Hall. Featuring the Handel’s Messiah Sydney Choir led by Conductor Tim Chung, accompanied by Organist Mark Quarmby, orchestra and soloists.

Handel’s Messiah Sydney rehearses and performs on the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. We acknowledge First Nations people as the original story tellers and music makers of this ancient land, and celebrate their deep connection to this country.
