Upcoming Performances and Events
We have been performing Handel’s Messiah in Sydney every year (almost!) since 1941. The choir began as the Combined Churches Choir, and now includes voices from all over Sydney singing this iconic and world-famous music.
Preparation for our 2024 season has already begun! Come and be part of the audience on Saturday 21st December or Sunday 22nd December, and celebrate Christmas in the city of Sydney at the beautiful and historic Sydney Town Hall.
You are welcome to join the choir and sing with us from October to December 2024. Experienced choristers and new singers are all welcome, as we share the fun and challenge of singing Messiah together. Registrations open each September.

SPECIAL EVENT:
Highlights of Handel’s Messiah at St Stephen’s Uniting Church
Each year the Handel’s Messiah Sydney Choir reunites for a special encore performance at St Stephen’s Uniting Church. A selection of the choir joins the St Stephen’s Uniting Church congregation during their regular Sunday 10.00 am morning worship and performs the highlights of Messiah – including the Hallelujah Chorus. Conducted by Tim Chung and with organist Mark Quarmby. You are invited to join us for this special annual event, and stay for refreshments after the service. Free event.
The choir will meet for a warm-up and rehearsal at 9.00 am prior to the 10.00 am service).

Is this the year you sing on stage at the Sydney Town Hall as part of the Handel’s Messiah Sydney Choir?
The Handel’s Messiah Sydney Choir is a non-auditioning choir of singers from all over Sydney. Some of our choristers have been singing Handel’s Messiah with us for years; some of our choristers are doing this for the first time. We welcome trained singers and enthusiastic amateurs. Everyone should have the opportunity to sing Messiah – including the Hallelujah Chorus – on stage, so why wait another year? Come and be part of our choir of over 400 voices. Be part of the city of Sydney’s Christmas celebrations in 2024.

Our Saturday performance is the first of our two annual presentations of Handel’s Messiah at the Sydney Town Hall. Featuring the Handel’s Messiah Sydney Choir led by Conductor Tim Chung, accompanied by Organist Mark Quarmby, orchestra and soloists.

Handel’s Messiah Sydney rehearses and performs on the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. We acknowledge First Nations people as the original story tellers and music makers of this ancient land, and celebrate their deep connection to this country.
